VLAN pooling

• For larger deployments, VLAN pooling can be used to

maintain small broadcast domains while easing

administrator burden of managing many small user

VLANs

• VLAN pooling allows an administrator to assign a “pool”

of VLANs to a campus/building instead of assigning a

VLAN per building/floor.

• A hash algorithm is used on the client MAC address to

distribute the users across the pool of VLANs
